Bullying

According to Prev Net, a website that aims to stop bullying, an average of 40% of Canadians that attend school are bullied. Just under half of all the kids that attend school. None though have probably been afflicted more harder onj than Emily Goldin.

They often say that your life at high school is one of the most if not the most enjoyed part of your life. Emily Goldin's experiences throughout her school life is probably the least enjoyed part of her life. This is because she was bullied relentlessley. Ever since grade 4 she has been afraid to go to school. I find it very sad that no one would take the time to talk or get to know her for who she truly is. Instead, "fabricated stories" are all people know of her. Furthermore, she has been called rude and disgusting names that have only made her less looked upon. Names that I would find "inappropriate" to write on here. Another interesting point is that every where she went; whenever she switched schools, the bullies would find her and continue their onslaught. Also, she never recieved any support. In her private school the personel did nothing to help her because the offender's parents were huge donaters to the school. So with no help and with no place to run to, Emily's life was a living hell. She even graduated a year earlier so that she could escape school and be bullied no longer.

Bullying in general needs to be stopped. It affects 40% of the children that attend school; just under half. Their are many types of bullying from verbal to physical and even social bullying. All are equally as bad and aims to put down victims to make them feel bad, unsafe and unsecure. Also bullying affects more girls than boys. To me, bullying is getting way out of hand. We hear stories about people hanging themselves; killing themselves because they cannot take the abuse anymore! I believe that while we can never fully exterminate bullying we can surely decrease it substancially so that students like Emily can come to school and feel safe and secure.

  1. Yes Yusuf there is a lot we can all do; we just have to be vigilant and stamp out abuse wherever we see them.
